How to Place Luminaires on a Mesh Surface

Currently for a project, I have linked a file (converted from into a Rhino Model) into the Revit model I'm using. The Rhino model, however seems to have left a "Mesh" in some areas that are unselectable when it comes to placing Luminaries (which is currently Face Hosted). 

Is there anyway add luminaries to a meshed areas that has a slight slope?

WOW that image is very eye teasing without a visual reference :-).

you can place a reference plane and host the the lights to the reference plane.
