Is there a release date for STL exporter plugin for Revit 2018? and is there an alternative (free or paid)?

I have same question/problem too...

So far I found that there is one simple moral, to avoid problems never get the latest software version...

Is this something what Autodesk really wants?

I haven't found a separate download, but the STL Exporter is (supposed to be) included in the 2018 Deployment.

I say "supposed to" because there is a check box for "include STL Exporter" when building the Deployment, but I didn't see anything after I ran it.

I was able to pull the .msi out of the Deployment\Img folder under the Updates folder. Ran that by itself and it installed

After downloading STL Exporter for Revit, It does not show up in the add ins. Any suggestions? I have reinstalled and the message says it is already installed, successfully. Where is it?

My tech department got involved. They downloaded a file from Github. Here
is the response from Autodesk which I used for my desktop PC:

Hi Preston,

Thank you for contacting Autodesk Product Support. My name is BJ and I am
a Support Specialist on the Autodesk Installation & Licensing Team. Your
Service Request has been escalated to me and I will be working with you to
resolve this case.

Try running the Autodesk Desktop Application to see if the STL gets listed.
If that fails you can download it from this link:
https://autodesk.box.com/s/ygjbm0jt6ifqq47shk63dn708xjzmvf2

If this solution worked and your issue is now resolved, please let me know
so I can close this support request. If the solution did not work, please
let me know the best time of day and phone number to give you a call.

When I call, if it is necessary to establish a remote session, I will ask
you to use the link below to download and run TeamViewer:

Best regards,
