Revit 2018 Shared Coordinates - From CAD

I've linked my site plan (dwg)file into revit and it needs to align with the building model when it comes into revit, I've used shared coordinate method to do this and it works, the site aligns with the building perfectly without me having to move the site etc. The only strange is normally to make sure that both revit model and the site plan from cad are both using the same coordinates i used spot coordinate in revit and i selected a specific point on the revit building to get the coordinates for that point, when i checked numbers for the coordinates it was completely different from the coordinates in cad when you select the same point. I find it strange because if both the cad file and the revit model were not using the same coordinates then when i inserted the linked file it would not have come in aligned with the building.

It would help if you explain your set-by-step workflow in greater detail, @emmanuelbee.  Start with explaining HOW you linked the CAD into the RVT; what settings you used.  Etc.
