2017.2 is not the answer. We upgraded our 2014 project to 2017.2 and the wrapping is a problem

People will forever and always have that problem when migrating up....its best to just start the project in 2017.

Hi  @tckeyser2014

I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Can you share a file to troubleshoot? A screenshot of the text wrapping would also be helpful.

Please send us a journal file so that we can investigate further.

Looking forward to your reply update.

Regards,

This is true. The text in projects migrated to 2017 are messed up. Projects started in 2017 are fine. Have not tried migrating to 2018 yet to see if that fixes things.

The same issue will exist in 2018 when upgrading a project done in a Revit version prior to 2017. In 2017 the "text engine" was changed and caused the upgrade issues you are seeing with text when upgrading a files done prior to the 2017 version. So if you are upgrading a project from a version prior to 2017, you will need to go through and verify/correct the text in the project.

A project being upgraded from 2017 to 2018 should not experience any problems.

Hi @tckeyser2014

Some new and changed features of Revit 2017 result in certain behaviors for upgraded models. Review this information before upgrading your models.

Please see more information HERE on Text Measurement - This change affects all text in Revit. After upgrading a model, please review all views and sheets to verify the changes to your text instances. Similar issue listed in this article HERE

For those in the future reading this...

If you upgrade your Revit projects, without doing the proper research into the upgrade information (provided by Autodesk for each release), you are quite literally asking for problems.

Autodesk provide this link annually for new releases: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2017/EN...

For further information on the issue, I have provided 3 links below to blog posts on the text formatting problems (2 are my own) when Revit 2017 was released (all in the top 10 google search results for "Revit 2017 upgrade issues") In-fact, the first page of results all flag text formatting as a problem, which should be a bit of a red flag in itself.
