Revit 2017 Extensions - Freeze drawings

Hi everyone,

This post is about Revit Extensions 2017 module,

we've seen that the "freeze drawings" and "content generator" tools , from miscellaneous tab, aren't available anymore since version 2017.

I've found nothing yet online, just a sentence in the readme :

"For previously available capabilities of Revit Extensions that are not part of this package, it is recommended to explore the following workflows or improvements:"

but nothing in the list corresponds to any of theses tools

http://download.autodesk.com/SWDLDDLM/Updates/RXE/REX_2016_readme.htm

http://up.autodesk.com/2017/RVT/REX_2017_readme_English.html

Any news?

we're really unable to find anything online, but we're using those tools daily

Thanks,

Hi,

Would it be possible to upgrade this for 2018?

Thanks,

Ewan

Hi! This worked great on Revit 2017 after using "7-zip" because the other extraction attempt failed. Thank you!

May I ask if you've created one for 2018 that you might share with us? I tried copying and pasting this one into the 2018 folder and when I tried to use it I got an error message in Revit.

Hi Guys,

I've extracted the files to the said location, but within Revit 2017 I can not see how to launch the add-in and create a freeze screen drafting view to be populated with 2D annotation.

Am I missing something, snippy attached and the original web link post

Thanks in advance guys

Hi @Anonymous

Can you confirm that you have the below files in the specified directory?

Did it prompt you to "Always Load" the new addin?

If not, remove the files. Restart Revit. Close Revit. Copy the files back. Restart Revit and see if it prompts you.

Hmm, that is very odd then.

Same files (re-downloaded) same location works on my end.

Try placing it in your user directory for addins.

C:\Users\______\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2017

Have you updated Revit to the current verison?  2017.2.2

Cheers,

Ewan

Yeh not sure whats happenning, I'm on the latest Revit 2017.2.2 Build.

Drop the file into the sugested file location under my user name.

Still nothing, wonder weather its a fire wall issue or something my other external tool links work fine, I'll throw it back to our IT support.

Is there a way of unistalling the external tool and reinstalling it ?

Thanks for you continued assistance

Awesome. So this means that we are all set for Revit 2017. What about Revit 2018?

Copy the files to the 2018 add-ins folder and the tool should work in 2018.

I tried this a while back and copying the same files in the 2018 add-ins folder did not work. Any other suggestions?

I copied the files to 2018 add-ins folder and it did not work. I closed 2018 and copied the same files to 2017 add-ins folder, opened 2017 and it worked. I closed 2017 and opened 2018, it gave a nasty warning but it worked. Go figure.

2017 is working but cannot get 2018. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong because I can't seem to get it to work either way.

To get this to work in 2018, I followed Glenn96RD8's link and found that I just needed to open the file DRevitFreezeDrawing.addin and change 2017 to 2018 so that it looks for the .dll file in the correct folder location.

I was getting this error
reviterror.png

In the file "DRevitFreezeDrawing.addin" I changed 2017 to 2018

Just a word about this add-in - Revit does not do well with DWGs. Anything that involves DWG + Revit may not be advisable.
