Revision Cloud Question

We have a project with 7 revisions so far. I know Revit will not allow me to select all revision clouds in a project and override the graphics. I can do it per view but that takes a long time. Our PMs like to show previous revisions as light gray and the current revisions dark. Researching threads on this topic basically tells me it cannot be done. So I am trying different workarounds. I did notice, in Object Styles, I can create a subcategory to Revision Clouds. I was thinking of creating subcategories for each revision and then changing the graphics, in the entire project, through Object Styles. Question I have is how do you add Revision Cloud subcategories to Revision Clouds? If this is possible.

Thank you.

Subcategories of Revision Clouds is useless.  Same as with several other categories such as Match Lines.

So not sure if this is a coincidence or if this is you in the below link, but Dynamo solution may be the best option.

The dynamo graph Ewan_Opie provides works (tested it myself) and it let's you select which sequence you want to override and applies a colour from a list.

I am sure with some tweaking you could customise the colours maybe even make it select all revisions except for...

Thank you for the reply. It was not me in the post you sent me. I have not dove into Dynamo yet but it is on my professional bucket list. I tried the Dynamo file and I cannot get it to work. The colors do not change and I get a message "Run complete with errors".

Thank you.

The script works.  You need Dynamo 1.3 or later to run it.

Total newbie to Dynamo. I downloaded and installed Dynamo 1.3. I opened the script thru Dynamo 1.3 and saved it. Opened Revit Architecture 2017 and ran the script with Dynamo Player. The dialog to select the revision sequence opens up but there is nothing to choose from (I have 3 revisions in my project). I click select then the color dialog appears and the colors are available to select. Previously I was able to select the revision. How do I get the right version of Dynamo to run in Revit? Or am I running the script wrong? Any help would be great.

Thank you.

Open the script with Dynamo, not Dynamo Player.  Edit the Code Blocks to the color you want because they are Red and Black currently.  Change to Manual Run and click on Run button to select a Revision Sequence and then a Color to change it to.

While I was sleeping, looks like Toan looked after you. Agree, just run it through Dynamo. I didn't test it through Dynamo Player.

I still can't get it to work. When I open it in Dynamo 0.9 there are no errors. When I open the script in Dynamo 1.3 I see a lot of errors. See attached. I uninstalled Dynamo and reinstalled and still doesn't work. Also, how do you change the color? I can change the name but I can't see how to change the color.

Thank you

I got the errors corrected in Dynamo 1.3 but when I run the script I still get "Run completed with warnings" message and does not change the colors.

See screencast for how to change color code block and script execution.

Thank you for the screenshot. Another error has occurred. I am unable to change the color because the color.gray node has an error. "Error: Custom node definition is not loaded" See attached as these are displayed as red.

Thank you.

You may not have all the required packages.  See below for what I have.  I don't know exactly which one contains that Code so you may as well get all of them.

I did mark his first replay as a solution as well and gave him a kudo.

haha I don't know about that Toan, I seemed to have always been sleeping on the job for this one!

Glad you got it sorted. It's a good reminder for me though when posting dynamo suggestions, that I take for granted I have many packages installed that it may not work for others. I'll remember this for next time!

Did you determine which package was required?

I don't remember really.  Take a look at the screenshots I posted back then and download all the Packages in the list.  It doesn't hurt to have them as they are good for one thing or another and having them doesn't make the program any slower.
