Repositioning model in linked site requires re-opening file

I have a separate building and site models, and have been using shared coordinates to position them correctly to eachother. Today I needed to lower the FFE of the ground floor 3" and thought I knew what I was doing but the result did work exactly as I anticipated.

In the building model, all of my survey elevations show the correct elevations, the linked site model looks like it stayed put while the building recessed.

However, in the site model (in which my building is also linked), it's as if nothing changed. Using spot elevations report the old FFEs and the building model is not recessed in the site.

After last minute syncing, saving, and reloading (in order to rule out user error), I decided to close the linked site model and reopen it. To my surprise, it opened with an info box saying the linked model had moved and everything appeared correctly (as it did in the building model).

tldr; If you reposition a linked model, you may need to close and reopen files.

Perhaps this will spare someone some hair-pulling..

Hi

Shared co-ordinate should be one way...

you may not share coordinate from building to main model..

I mean in the main model - when you link the building, there are two choice

1. Acquire Coordinate

2. Publish Coordinate

Try to use main model to publish coordinate.. so that buildings gets updated as per main models

coordinate, elevations etc...

next is when you open individual buildings, and main model is linked, you should not publish or acquire

coordinate, just keep a simple linked, and if that doesn't work, just remove the main model and relink it to

position it correctly..

Idea is to keep only one file dictating coordinate..

best luck

Yup. I do follow this practice. Good reminder, but it was not my issue in this case.
