I am unable to use the reply feature at work. We have a secure system, and that would leave the company open to attacks, so I cannot use the normal replays, which I know is a nuisance, but I have no choice.

It's impossible to have a conversation with you then. We don't have a clue to whom or what you are replying to.
If through e-mail, don't use it. Use the website only. If on the website...your IT folk should just lock out the forum completely if you can't click Reply.
