Rendering to Show Edges

Hi All,

Does anyone know if there is a way I can render to show edges of my model as black lines similar to what you see in realistic view. As you can see, the rendered image below has no edge lines whatsoever.

Do you mean Render as in "RENDER" or Do you mean this option when 3D is set to Realistic?

Many thanks for the video👍. Meanwhile, what I actually meant was to show these edges after you perform a render (RR) and not in a realistic view.

Is it possible? if so, are you able to send me another brief video for demonstration?

As far as I know, not without post editing. meaning

1. Render the view and export the image
2. Switch to Hidden lines
   • hide surface patterns to show only the edges
   • Export to DWG/DXF
   • Open in Adobe Illustrator (If you have no license you can use Autocad)
   • Export the vector 3D drawing to .eps
3. Open the rendered image in Adobe Photoshop and overlay the EPS file from step 2

OR...Render in a 3rd party app that allow sketchy lines or edges in rendering

Most of them have an option to render with profile lines 

• Enscape has this option; however, I think only the outer profile twould show 
• Twinmotion als has some filters which can add the profile lines effect to the render...I think (not sure) that it can apply the filter to wall parts ie: apply the profile line to each wall layer

Not really, as i was specifically looking to achieve this within Revit and not using post editing as such. It is a very good suggestion but it does not meet with my current intention

This is a user forum, we can only offer workarounds for features that do not exist or are not supported by the software. When our suggestions help users like your goodself resolve an issue and move forward with a project while Autodesk considers adding such a feature, accepting the helpful solution would be a token of gratitude and help for others searching for similar answers find the useful solutions more easily.

Otherwise, I would advise you to visit the Ideas forum and post your idea there, explaining how helpful such a feature would be. If the idea receives enough votes, who knows, it might get implemented. - Revit Ideas - Autodesk Community
