removing DWGs from file

Hello all!

I have problems removing imported dwg files from imported categories list of
the graphics visibility dialog

I select a dwg in a plan view and then delete it. But when i go to the
graphics visibility imported categories tab
i can still see it checked. And even if I uncheck it save file and reopen it
it still shows up in the imported categories list.. how to remove items from
the list?? (as i want to import some other dwgs with names exactly like
those in the list)

ps in fact the dwgs i delete don't show up in plans anymore but do so in the
list!!..
I can explode them and delete but they all the same in the list!!

thanks for suggestions :))

ps2 purge unused isn't a solution

Which version of RVT are you using? Even RVT 9.1 removes it from the imported categories after you delete all instances of the imported dwg. It also removes it from VG, if you 'fully' explode the DWG.
However, if you have 2 instances in different views, it may not remove it from the VG (might depend on "current view only" import option.

file>manage links>select DWG>remove

this is dependant on the file being linked.

Has anyone found a way to delete imported categories that appear in the visibility/graphic overrides dialog box?

My search brought me here guys. Apparently, I had this same issue regalith had even now in Revit 2018!

For people still struggling with this, our options are limited:

1 - If the dwg was linked, find and remove it from Insert > Manage Links.

2 - If the dwg was imported but not as "Current view only", find it manually in your model, delete it, then do a Purge Unused.

3 - If the dwg was imported as "Current view only", find and delete it from its parent view, then do a Purge Unused.

My model had more than 200 views with lots of view-specific DWGs so it was extremely tedious to do (2) and (3). These hours I can never get back ... Smiley Sad

Ended up using this addin called Dwg Explorer to deleted DWGs directly from Imported Categories:

https://apps.autodesk.com/RVT/en/Detail/Index?id=3030640795772631843&appLang=en&os=Win64

There are similar ones out there so have a look around.

Hope this helps!
