Hi all,

As title I would like to know when you use Ref Plane and when Ref Line.

99 out of 100 in family creator I use Ref Plane.

Any thoughts?

A Reference Plane is an infinite plane that servers as a guide for drawing lines and geometry.

A Reference Line creates a line similar to a reference plane, but that has logical start and end points.

I use reference lines if you doing rotational angle. As well when you building generic annotation or titleblock, you only get to have reference line and no Reference plane.

Aside from what already been said, if you want 3d grips to stretch a model family in the project, use Ref Lines with associated Instance Length parameters in the family.
