Reference levels for ceiling & gable ends?

Still learning Revit and running into a couple of areas of issue when it comes to reference levels regarding ceilings and gable roofs.

1.) I don't know if it is my settings, but the software won't allow me to draw a ceiling at 8'0", it will let me draw one at 7'11"

2. Do I need to add a "ridge level" to extend the gable walls or should I do something like a second floor? The end of the house is bricked for the first 8ft and then goes to wood siding.

1. Draw the ceiling first. Then select the ceiling and change the height to 8'

2. As for level, you can get away without adding another level. For wall, you simply need to attached to underside of the roof.

Another wicked cool thing you can do is Attach Top/Base of Wall to a Reference Plane.  FWIW.  😉

Interesting. Any suggestion on how to resolve an issue like this when I Attach Top/Base?

Split the wall at the ridge line.

...and then attach each wall to roof .

BTW, you can use Join Geometry Tool to hide the visible edge between the two walls.
