Rectangular shape rotation in Generic family with center as basepoint

Hi All,

I have a simple generic model rectangular family. I need one parameter for rotating the same with center as base point. Please advise.

Thanks & Regards,

Welcome to the forum.

  • In the plan view, create a reference line starting at the origin, to the upper right quadrant, to any length, any angle.
  • Align and lock the start point of the reference line to both reference planes, one at a time.
  • Create an angular dimension to control the rotation of the reference line, and convert the dimension into a parameter.
  • Set the parameter for rotation to zero.
  • Select the extrusion (or the sketch) and select "Edit work plane", then select the reference line.
  • Now you have control over the rotation of the element, with the parameter.

Use a nested family to simplify the constraint.

You missed one step. Set the rotation to zero before using Edit Workplace.
