RCP showing symbols but not 3D elements.

Setting the stage:

This project is a BIM360 coordinated model, where each consultant is modelling 100% of their respective scope with no duplicated elements.  This was a bit of a coordination experiment, and we will not be having engineers modelling anything remotely architectural in the future.

In all 2D based views the "symbols" of families show up, but not necessarily the 3D modeled family.

This becomes most of an issue in the RCP views.  When creating an RCP through the typical "View>Plan Views>Reflected Ceiling Plan" process, where the symbols show up but not the modeled families.  When an upward oriented 3D orthographic view "worms eye" is created the 3D geometry is shown, but this view cannot be mirrored to create an RCP.

Here is a shot for reference:

If anyone has an suggestions on how to make the left RCP look like the right "worms eye" view that would be amazing.

Hopefully there is a simple fix I am just missing.

RCP Views are orthogonal views and the Families 3d can be override in Family Editor by 2d Masking Regions and Symbolic Lines ...

Worms Eye View is a Perspective 3d View and shows only 3 d Models...

The worms eye view is set to be orthographic, so it is not showing perspective. Is there a way of having the typical RCP set to show 3D family geometry without modifying the families?

I am suspecting that this is a family view setting issue essentially.

the Masking Region and the Symbol lines are applied in Family on Top side...

I seem to be missing something here, I am only able to draw section lines vertically. Please excuse my novice Revit abilities here, how did you draw a horizontal section line as shown in your top right window?

Ok, I figured out that I can rotate the section to be horizontal after I draw it vertically.

This is still showing a "worms eye" view, not a Reflected Ceiling Plan, and the 3D geometry is still not showing up. Here is a clip of the new section view:

New section view looking up. Not a RCP.  Still no 3D geometry in ceiling hosted families.

Showing symbols is more clear from the engineering and construction standpoints.  Most of them are industry standard symbols so people in the field can quickly know what they are without consulting the legend.

If you want to show presentation RCPs showing actual elements instead of symbols then I suggest keep symbols for Coarse detail level views and actual elements for Fine detail level views.

I do see now that if I rotate the section looking up by a couple degrees that the 3D geometry does show up, so @constantin.stroescu that does prove your comment to be correct.

you are right.... in this Down-upside view you are not able to view the Mask Region and Symbol Lines because they were create in a Top view Plan ...but they will show in a Projection Upside-Down View.....it looks logical for me..

This sounds like a possible solution. We will try it out. Thank you.
