RCP Revit 2020

After all this years, after all the complaining about the viewing range of the RCP, you still haven't fixed. But, hej, you added a pretty picture next to it... good for you.

Meantime, we are having to throw numbers at random to make it work. Give yourselves a big pat on the back.

If you're asking how to make an RCP go: View tab -> Plan Views drop down -> Reflected cieling plan

Sorry but you posted in the user help forum. The complaint department is down the hall and to the left but I don't think they can prevent user generated errors.

Perhaps just learn what Revit wants with regard to RCP's.

If you have an idea about how the view range of the RCP should show, add it to the Revit ideas section. they really take the ideas seriously as long as the idea has enough votes.

Learn how RCPs work? Propose a solution? This problem has been going on from the very beginning. Grab a bag of popcorn and watch how Autodesk studiously ignores the problem.

Here is a good article that shows how the RCP view range works.  It has pretty much always been like this.  Once you understand it you should be god to go, although it can be confusing at first.

While some people have trouble understanding view ranges, this is not a Revit "problem" that needs to be fixed. It is a lack of understanding at the user level, PEBCAK in other words.

You are right on one thing, Revit is not perfect (this isn't a secrete). It has been a work in progress ever since they bought it back in 2002 and lots improved yet some tools and features are still found lacking in one way or the other but definitely their engineers are working on solutions. It does take them 2-3 years sometimes to fix a bug  but evenly they get on to it and they fix it...

For the view range saga isn't new...I have been hearing and reading complaints about it ever since I have started using Revit in 2008 but one has to be fair, it is all in all a very good feature for standard projects. You are obviously of another opinion which I respect, but here is not the place to complain...I think you have noticed that on this forum many are on a pissing contest lol

Anyways, always remember, the developers can't make everyone happy all at the same time, they fixed a couple of bugs which I used to complain about, so I can't complain much...maybe in the near future some enhancement or a new feature might even be up to the standard of pleasing you 🙂

@jacques  : Ah! I think you are talking about the RCP View Range Graphic that Revit uses! Have you ever seen this one? It's one of my favorites.  I had it pinned above my workstations for years.
