Radial Array Not Relative to Ground Plane

I have been trying to create a radial array for the muntins of an arched transom. There seems to be no way to insert the muntins into the window transom and it will not let me pick a new host. The element is double nested and i even tried triple nesting it to be able to control the host. There seems to be no way for me to control the amount of muntin I would have in the arched transom radially. Please advise.

Try something simpler - model and array the muntins in the family itself. Take a look at this -

Select the nested muntin family and assign a new work plane, chose center front back or any parallel reference plane/face.

Firstly, if you're nesting them INTO a door family, don't build them AS a door family. Instead, build them as a generic model.

Secondly, you have modeled the muntins (and their array) on the Reference Level of the family. Instead, set the Reference Plane: Center (Front/Back) as the current work plane, switch to the Front Elevation view, and model them there.

There you go. Now they're standing up on a vertical plane instead of laying down on the floor, and you can nest them into a door family and move them up to the arch location.

I don't think he can do that because the muntin family is currently a Door family. Door families are inherently wall-based. Also since it's a Door family, its "vertical" orientation is fixed, and he's modeled the muntins flat on the reference level, so it isn't going to be able to reorient.

Picking any old surface or plane as a host only works for face-based stuff I think.

To OP: I don't have Revit here to open your file but you can try this. Edit the muntin family and change category from doors to generic, uncheck always vertical, check work plane based. Then do what I suggested earlier.

Of course, what chrisplyler suggested would work as well.

Thanks for responding so quickly. I didnt realize the nested family was only able to be drawn on the plan work plane. Therefore, Revit would not let me array the file on front/back elevation work plane.

Now THAT is the easiest solution. And it shows off your brilliance in pointing out the obvious when everyone else (me) misses it. Is it okay for me to say that I really like you, but also kinda really hate you?
