Hi, I'm using Revit 2019 student version and have had no problems until now. Today, the error message popped up (see the attachment screenshot) when I tried to copy and paste a door. I've never had a problem copying and pasting doors or any other objects in my projects, but suddenly this message popped up when I tried to paste the door.
Can anyone help??
Thanks
Happens to me sometimes. Most times I can continue working by pressing "No" -- though, out of an abundant of caution, I do press "Yes' sometimes. Revit then creates a "recovery" file.
Is yours a reoccurring problem?
Can you cause it to happen?
Is it followed by the program shutting down?
Yeah, something is wrong. A couple of thing you can try: 1) Close and re-open the file with "Audit" checked; 2) Try a "Repair" through Windows by initiating Uninstall Program.
p.s. You're not by any chance copying and pasting within a Group?
Hi, how do I re-open the file with "audit" checked? Sorry, Revit is still fairly new to me.
I'm just copying and pasting like normal. All other objects copy and paste normally, it's just the door for some strange reason.
Close and reopen the file via File=>Open and check this box at bottom of "Open" dialog box.
Keep in mind though, this will only audit the file being opened for errors. If this problem you are having is happening across the board with every file, then auditing is not the solution.
try right clicking what you want to copy and select Create Similar vs copy/paste.
Thanks, I have attached my file. The issue now seems to be when copying and pasting doors, windows and a select few items of furniture.
Thanks, I have been doing that but I just prefer copying and pasting. Also, copy/paste allows me to copy elements between two different project files, which can't be done when creating similar.
I'm not finding any errors using the Copy tool, Clipboard Copy/Paste or Create Similar. How are you copying and pasting?
...nor do I have issues Copying and Pasting Door or Windows from your Project to another Project, which you mentioned above.
I too am just starting to experience this issue inside of Revit 2019.2.2.
I also have Revit 2020 and Revit 2021 installed, but no issues there.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. The problem persists.
I have been using Revit 2019 for many months with no issue until recently. I have a call scheduled with Autodesk for tomorrow. Will update if I find a resolution.
I fixed my copy/paste errors by completely uninstalling Revit 2019 and associated Revit 2019 software.

Step 4, I think was what did it. Removing residual files.
I did not do Step 3.
However, I believe I still have a bad model because many of the detail components are not displaying correctly and not updating when I change a parameter. I believe I may have corrupt families with in that an Audit hasn't been able to fix.
I am using 2019.2.2 as well and just yesterday starting having this issue when copy/pasting 2D elements like filled regions and components, but lines are fine. Other people accessing my model are not having the same issue, and i even opened a blank file to create a filled region and copy/paste it and the error message still pops up. i fully uninstalled revit 2019 and reinstalled it and the error message still pops up. i think its a glitch with Revit because my file isnt slow and if i hit 'cancel' i can keep going back to my work. i just need the copyu/paste tool to work on all my details. has anyone found a fix to this? i am thinking maybe i didnt delete all associated files when i uninstalled initally and i am wondering if i should redo the whole process again, just takes a really long time.

Same problem here, out of the blue any copying will give a serious error. Mirror/offset/copy/rotate copy/array, you name it. none of these work anymore. Very frustrating...
This has happened to me a handful of times... maybe restart your computer and try to use "create similar" CS command instead of copy paste.
