When I select the "Bell Chime Annotation" (out of the box from Revit families) to put it on the demolition phase the properties palette is missing.  Any ideas on how to trouble shoot this?

Maybe there isn't any instance properties for that family type.  What properties do you need to edit?  Click Edit Type button and see.

That is a Generic Annotation...Annotations have no Phasing properties. They are 2D elements which are view specific...

  • 2D model Categories / Annotation you simply place them on any view regardless of the Phase...
  • 3D Model categories are Phase-able. These when you select, you will have access to Phase Created and Phased Demolished properties on the Palette.

I think you placed the wrong family in the Project.  I suspect the "Bell Chime Annotation" is inserted to the "Bell Chime" Model Family.  That's the one you want to load into your Project - especially if you want to Phase it.
