B] Because of HAVING PROBLEMS WITH WORK PLANES [PART1] I have had problems adjusting the height of STACKED WALLS
1] I have two Stacked walls of similar structure.
2] Both Stacked Walls BASIC and GATE have the same Five walls in the Stack.
3]Types 1 and 2 - 4 and 5 have the same heights in both Stacked Walls. The height of Type 3 is set to variable.in each
4] I assumed that the overall height of each stack - Basic and Gate - would be set by assigning a Height value in the SAMPLE HEIGHT box in the top right [again images 7 and 8]
5] I did this but when inserting the Gate Wall [ see position in image 6] the Gate Wall although assigned an overall height of 5150 came in at exactly the same height as the Basic Wall. NB image 6 shows it finally adjusted]
6] I then tried to cross-check the height of both walls by drawing a Section through the Gate Wall but I was unable to query this Section though I was able to adjust each wall's height but NOT IN A CONTROLLED WAY - ie using model/ref lines etc.
7] I then drew a Reference plane along the line of the Section perpendicular to the Wall and was able to get started/use model/ref lines etc
8] Isn't this a very VERY long-winded way of working with a Section?
I hope this makes sense
Images and Simple WorkPlane project [Image 5] attached - NB I haven't attached the Town Wall project
The height the wall will come in at is defined in the instance parameters when drawing the wall. This value is a default for all walls. If you change it before drawing your wall it will then set that value as the new default. You cannot have a default height set differently for different walls.
Every time you model a wall you have to either set the height first or draw the wall and change it after.
Sample Height only refers to the height of the wall in the section preview window in the edit assembly.
I'm not understanding, but it sounds like you want to control the height of a wall in the project. That's accomplished by setting the Top Constraint, Unconnected Height and Top Offset values in the Wall Instance Properties. Sample Height doesn't control Instance Properties.
BTW: you can always Break Up Stacked Wall Instances as well. Right-click=>Break Up.

No. Sample height is for preview in the Wall structure editing environment only.
