I am trying to edit a family, change the thickness from 1' to 2', even after I unlock those parameter, I still get the warning. How should I edit it?

Try this one. Needs some more work, but it should get you up and running. Edit the extrusions and you'll see what I did.

That is because when you change the dimension, this condition is no longer valid.

To fix it, make the voids longer so you won't run into that condition.  In general, always more generous with voids.  You don't need to draw them to match the solid exactly.

I am not clear what the 4" constraints are for so I left them as is.  But I don't think you need them.

Here is the revised file but it is 2024 so it probably useless for you.  I don't have 2023.

Hi,

Here is a revised family, your voids are not correct that's why it doesn't work. I created a formula for the top offset.

Edit type in the project and change the dimension.

Huh?  Change the Type Parameters in the Project then.

Can you make the file 2023 version?

No I can't because 2024 is all I have.  You can use others' family which I guess using the same or similar fix.  But I suggest you fix the family yourself based on the information I have provided in the post so that you understand what was wrong and how to fix it, for your own skillset.

You know, instead of trying to correct your family, there's a square one in the OOTB Library called "Baluster - Square" that you could use with a simple modification. If you want a rectangle one, add 2 length parameters to it. "Height" and "h1". Then re-lable the vertical dimensions that control the existing void and solid geometries length.  "Width" to "Height" and "w1" to "h1".  Then add a Formula to "h1" Parameter. =Height+2".  Save the Family under a new name (e.g. "Baluster - Rectangle.rfa") and, bada bing, you're done!

Under my post is a revised 2023 version. But its simple to create one yourself like @barthbradley explained.
