Problems with Revit

I have autocad and it worked fine with my computer however, im having problems with revit. The program downloaded fine but when i use it i have to move my mouse over things for things to show up (for example the ribbon). Then when i went to link a cad file and it acted like nit was trying to load and work properly but it never does anything. Then the program won't do anything or close. I have a 2015 Dell XPS. Core I5 and windows 64 Bit. My professor reccomended that I should get a new computer but i didn't know if there was a wahy around that considering i have the requirements.

thanks,

Jac

That doesn't sound like a top notch computer; but if its running AutoCAD I believe it should easily run Revit (ok; well not together). I am running Revit perfectly well on an HP 5 years older than yours (for small/medium projects)...for educational use it is more than enough and not giving any issues.

The graphics issue with the mouse over to get things to show be resolved by either of or all of the following:

  1. Go to control panel and change size of your screen to 125% or 150%
  2. Check compatibility of the Graphic card you have and make sure to use updated/recommended driver.
  3. If the graphic card is giving you problems still; disable the Use of Hardware Acceleration (R>Otptions>Graphics> uncheck Hardware acceleration box)
  4. Revit uses the Temp Memeory and Temp folder for lots of operations (example: When Importing/Linking documents; when Rendering locally) check how much memory is allocated for both and do dump cash and temp files...It does help

But of course the best Solution is if you got some extra $ 🙂 get a new laptop
