Problem sharing Topography between Revit 2024 and Civil 3D 2024

In Revit 2024 I use LINK TOPOGRAPHY, only TOPOSOILD is available.  It creates an error messages for my dtm.shared.dwg.  In Revit 2023 when I use the same workflow but Topography instead the same dtm.shared.dwg works fine. I guess the new Toposolid is causing the problem. The option Topography is needed.

Any suggestions?

1. Use 2023 until they fix 2024 toposolid.

2. Export Civil3D to a point file and create toposolid in Revit 2024 from Import.

Revit 24 does not import the dtm, because it has some overlapping lines. In Revit 2023 the same data where imported.

2. I am talking complex dtm (see attachment). How would you control the triangulation at the edges? This is not a solution. Besides that the workflow between Civil 3D and Revit via ACC and shared.dwg worked before ... . Even in the Revit 2024 Help under Site Design the workflow is recommended ... , the choice Topography is missing. Toposolid causes problems, in case there are overlapping lines, etc.

I reinstalled Revit 2023 and teach with it in the meantime.

Looks to me like an major bug.

I reinstalled Revit 23 and Civil 3D 23, I use the Desktop Connector 16.3 and the ACC with full access rights.

Since this month I receive the message also in 2023 "The topography data does not contain usable surfaces" (see attachment). It worked fine in June, a whole class of students used the workflow ... .

Maybe the problem is in the ACC?

Solution to the problem to deal with Revit toposolids:

ifc 4.3 

Export the terrain in Civil 3D with Infra IFC 4.3 (export landxml, create a "clean", new drawing, import landxml and export with ifc 4.3). Link ifc 4.3 in Revit, bind and ungroup it, etc.

@Anonymous: Please adapt your workflow SITE DESIGN under Help in Revit 2024. We C3D site designer don't want to deal with Revit Toposolids ... . C3D can do a much better site design job for BIM construction!

New problem:

Revit 2024 shows an error message (see attachment) when one tries to import an ifc 4.3 file using Ifc 4.3 Extension Update 1 (1.3.24) in Autodesk Civil 3D 2024.3.

I am having serious issues with this Link Topograhy just not working.  I have tried multiple "fixes" but I just need the feature to work properly as it did up until Revit 24. We use this feature on upwards of 100 projects up to REVIT 24. On  new REVIT 24 we have to have the surfaces in Revit 23 and linked in. Can Autodesk not allow a toposurface to be made from a linked C3D surface model rather than a Toposolid?

I agree!!! We, who are using Civil 3D and Revit, need the option between Topography and Toposolid. I was the AU last year and talked to Revit people. They were so convinced about Toposolid. Me, as a C3D user, I was just thinking thank you ifc 4.3  😀
