Problem in model in place void geometry

I use void sweep to modify non-defining edge roof rafter geometry. It does not work and REVIT asked me to cut geometry off instead of void it. I got what I wanted. But, the next in-place component has to do the same in order to cut -off partial of the geometry. When I try use void tool in extrusion, the error message read as follow:Capture.JPG

If I start a new file, void geometry works again.

Use the void to Cut Geometry the object WHILE you are in the in-place model editing environment.

It works for the first time in the in-place environment. I had squared off the rafter on the non-slope-defining edge. However, the 2nd in-place model can not be cut nor void for some reasons. please see below picture and attached file;Capture.JPG

Can't open Revit right now. What is the box you want to cut? If it an in place model then you need to create the void in the same in place and cut it there.
