Position of linked DWG changes after quitting Revit

This has been a thorn in my side for years (across many versions of Revit). I always dismissed it as just a result of my ineptitude but now I have a brand new, simple project that exhibits the same behavior.

I've linked a DWG (a simple floor plan) into the model, moved and rotated it to where it needs to be, and saved the project. When I open the project the next day the linked DWG is in a completely different place. I'm in Revit 2018 and not using shared coordinates at all.

Any ideas about what I am doing wrong? How can I get linked DWGs to stay put?

Hi!

Sounds strange. May by someone changed dwg file?
Also, you can try a "Pin" tool to locks any model elements in place even links.

I’m the only one working on the project so I’m nearly certain no one else has modified the DWGs.

And I’ve tried pinning linked DWGs as well but it doesn’t seem to make a difference… they move regardless.

is the dwg far away from 0,0,0?.... revit starts behaving badly if the dwg is too far away. try moving the dwg close to 0,0,0? if its not already

Everything is within 500’ of 0,0,0.
