Plaster calculation

Hi, im using the 2020 Revit Student version and i need an information about the calculation of the wall plaster material. Would it be possible to eliminate from plaster computation the quantity relative to the thickness of the wall that engages with the main wall as in the screenshots? Thanks for your help

Hi,

I usually model the plaster as separate wall family.

No the material volume is not calculated that way. The takeoff, for performance reasons, is somewhat abstracted on ways like this. Join conditions are not 100% accurate.

You can turn the wall into parts and then adjust the parts individually and do the takeoff based on parts if that level of accuracy is required. This of course will take time and you will have to decide if the time you spend (wages) has enough value over the material takeoff being "close enough".

I usually do not use parts because it involves too many issues in visualization/joining.

EDIT

Of course you model as single layer wall Interior plaster due to fact of openings, connection with floor finish ecc.

You do not model exterior plastering as single layer wall.

Then it dipens even of your coordination with e.g. structural discipline, but as a student it is not you case till now.

Cteate parts and take off plaster parts. It doesn't affect your models whatsoever. You don't even need to show parts in any views.
