Placing a Conceptual Mass Family in a project

I am trying to build a conceptual mass family which I can place in a three dimensional cityscape. I would like to be able to modify the form to fit the site once it has been placed in the project. Can this be done. Once placed its geometry seems to be fixed. I don't want to have to go back and edit it in the family editor?

Welcome to the forum.

If you need flexible masses that generate mass floors, and schedules of mass floors with perimeters, areas, etc, use the in-place mass tool.

Hi,

He is right. It is the correct workflow for on-site massing. However you will not have access to ALL the tools that way.

If you want to create a very advanced mass model (with complex surface patterns for example) while having the city landscape around, you will have to import the landscape into your family during the mass modeling.

You can then save and import back into your revit model.

Your calculations will still update with the model.

Good luck!
