Sometimes in a project you need to model complx shapes that cannot be modeling using the families that Revit has by default, walls, doors, floors...

I would like to find the right workflow to make it and when I have this items modeled, can I link to an specific level and give it parameters as the families that Revit  has by default. Also can I add this elements to any of those families.

Regards

Maybe clarify what It is you want to model. You say walls, floors, doors etc. Is it an actual building part, or an art piece?

To  model custom complex shape:

  1. Architecture tab
  2. Component (Little arrow drop down)
  3. Model In Place

Then choose the type of component it is, wall, window, door, etc... if cant think of a category do a generic model

Then you will be in a family model in-place editor, to add parameters you click the button with multiple cubes in the  Properties panel of the Create tab

The parameter window will pop open and so you click the new parameter icon... I think you got it from here

You need to be more specific otherwise this will end up similar to all your other forgotten posts : o)

The question is still generic....There are things you can model in place and others where you need to workout in Family or Conceptual Massing Editors.

  1. Simple things which may be accomplished with sweeps, extrusions, blends could be done as mentioned in the previous reply (in-place modeling)
  2. More complex things (bizarrely shaped roofs and/or organic shaped wall from a Pointclouds...etc), in-place modeling might become less practical and you would then need to work with
    • Massing environment,
    • Adaptive components,
    • Dynamo
    • ...etc
  3. AND in some cases where there is no specific need to model component as native Revit element, you can simply model them in a different program (sketchup/formit/Rhino...) and import them into Revit as a .SAT, .3DM or Directshapes
    • This is a normal and a standard practice when you are working on projects in collaboration with multi-disciplines and/or multiple firms/Clients who do not use Revit.

Remark:

  • NOT everyone needs to use Revit and NOT everything has to be modeled in Revit
