Place Rooms without pre-filled information

Hi there! I have a problem in my project, it is kind of silly, but when we place a Room, despite it being "new", the room has pre-filled the values in a lot of the attributes, which leads to errors, since the users don't clean the information  when they work hastly.

Is there a way to force Revit to place the rooms without any information? Maybe something in the .ini file that needs to be activated?

the behavior you're experiencing with rooms having pre-filled information typically occurs due to the project template or certain settings being carried over from previous projects, such as values in shared parameters or existing data in the room schedules. There isn't a direct option in the .ini file to prevent pre-filled values when placing rooms. The best solution is to use a clean template. I try to manage the room information in schedules.

Sounds like the behaviour I'm experiencing. The problem is that we have about 2200 rooms, and they are moving around the project here and there. So keeping tabs on the rooms via Schedules is part of the routine, but the information is such, that it isn't possible to be sure of what is correct and what not. At least is good to discard the .ini option. Thanks!

When you place a room, look at the option bar and choose new instead of preexisting information.

Is there something else than just selecting "New" from the drop-down? As you see in the picture this is what I'm trying, but I get all the SPs filled with some random information from other rooms.

Hi @aksel_alvarez,

When selecting "new" it should only fill in the Name as "Room" and the number will be one up from the last used.

But looking at the screenshot a guess:, see if there's another "New" in the list.

I just tried it with a room named "New" and no number and shows as " New" and not "New", it looks like there's a space before new, then it could be a different display between R2022 - R2024

Nevermind, see @SteveKStafford Post. How could I miss this, I even use this for room heights.

Reset the values, but this will only work for Text fields. Not sure how to reset Yes/No or number fields (without API/Dynamo)

Uhm, Reading @ToanDN post about KeySchedules, it could be used to also reset the Yes/No and Number fields to "no value" state.

When you create a new room any data you enter into the Properties while using the room tool will show up in the next room you place too. Clear those fields out and you'll just get whatever you enter into them. For example if you know you have six math classrooms on the 2nd floor you can enter Math then each new room you place will use Math for the name. If you stop after placing the first math room and enter 200 into that room's number and restart placing rooms then each new room will increment up based on the 200 you just entered in the previous room.

Are the SP data governed by a key schedule?

- If yes, then you can re-assign the correct key after creating the room to get the correct data

- If no, then create a key schedule, add a key, name it [No Data], add and all SPs and leave them blank.  Select all new rooms and assign this [No Data] key and all the SPs data will become blank. Now re-assign these room to (none) key so that all SPs data are still bank but you can fill them in manually.

copy the old room ,do not make new one, copy the existing with correct information.
