Picking host for railing not part of stairs family

I have downloaded a set of precast concrete stairs from reivit city. I am trying to put a railing on them but, i dont think they are actually considered part of the stairs family so i do not know how to put a railing on them.(it wont let me pick them as a host) Any help would be appreciated.

First thing you must know is this... Content from RevitCity is not alway good/clean therefore may not be intellegent objects (Families). You would have better luck recreating the family instead of cleaning the file from RevitCity.

I stay away from Revit city content with a 10 foot digital pole. 

Concrete stairs can't be too hard to build, perhaps we can help you make it instead?

Thanks for the input. I will just recreate the family, i just thought there may have been an easier way.
