phases phasing me out!

We are working on the second phase of a project, whereby we are using many of the same partition types, door types etc. We are using both phasing to differentiate between that which we had built previously (now 'Existing') and that which is new ('New' phase). We are also using Visibility filters to distinguish between the types of partition (IP-1, IP-2 etc..) All the partition types exist in both the previous 'Existing' phase and the New phase. We would like to apply the visibility filters ONLY to those items which are in the New phase. We have created another 'text'-based, instance parameter, which if it does not contain the word 'New', it will ignore from visibility filters, i.e. changing to red for instance. Surely the phase condition could be added to the Visibility filters?? i.e. If Type Mark == IP-1, and if Phase == 'New Construction', then make lines and fills red.

do you have your Existing view with all your existing partition set to phase created in "Existing"?

do you have your New view with all your New Partitions set to phase created in "New"?

what are you using for your Phase filters in their respective Views?

Existing= show all

New = Previous and New

without using any filtering this method should provide you with a result of all Existing shows up bold in your Existing view 

All your New shows up bold in your New view and all existing shows halftone or Lighter in your New view.

check you phase filter graphic overrrides

if this is correct then you can apply any other filters you are looking for.

If you are using Coarse scale fill pattern in lieu of Visibility filters to distinguish partition types then you can use Phase graphic override to distinguish the same partition types under different Phases.

Try applying a different graphic display or override to the elements in a phase status.See phase workflow.

Define graphic overrides as needed to change the display of elements in views that use phase filters.

1. Click Manage tabPhasing panel (Phases).
2. In the Phasing dialog, click the Graphic Overrides tab.
3. Click the appropriate boxes to define the display for new, temporary, demolished, and existing elements.
4. Click the Phase Filters tab.
5. For each filter, specify how you want to display the elements for each phase status (New, Existing, Demolished, and Temporary). For phases that use the graphic override settings, select Overridden.
6. Click OK.

A wall has the following overrides:

• Visibility/Graphic Override for the Walls category for the view
• Override Graphics in ViewBy Element for the wall instance
• Phasing graphic override
• View filter overriding the graphics for walls over a specific thickness

With the 4 overrides defined, the element override on the wall instance is visible because it is the highest in the hierarchy:

Remove the element override and the view filter is visible:

Remove the view filter and the phasing graphic override is visible:

Change the phase filter of the view and the Visibility/Graphic override for the Walls category is visible:
