Personal Accelerator - What is it & Why a Separate Update?

I see there are updates foe Personal Accelerator available to me. I thought this was something that was built into Revit...

1) Why is it a separate update?
2) Do the latest Revit Updates include the necessary updates to Personal Accelerator?
3) If my employees are all on the latest Revit Build, and I don't push out these separate Personal Accelerator updates to my office, is everyone going to suddenly lose access to BIM 360 soon?

Thanks!

Installed the update....don't have a clue if it actually did anything as it never gave me a "finished" notification.

the build number specified within Windows>Programs and Features for the Personal Accelerator for Revit application will be 21.0.10.0.

Action may be required to update your software to maintain access to certain product functionality or features. If your software is affected and is not updated, connectivity issues may occur as of June 15, 2019.

@nharburger : To align with industry best practices for security and data integrity, Autodesk Identity Services and Revit Cloud Models Services, will move to Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 and stop supporting TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 on June 15, 2019.

Yes - I have read all of these things - but I don't really understand them. Since security hotfixes for Revit, and for how Revit works with the cloud, have previously all been taken care of with "REVIT" updates/hotfixes/security fixes, I am just confused why there is a separate non-REVIT update now.

I never installed a product called "Personal Accelerator for Revit". I installed a product called "Revit"

If this is something that was automatically installed when I installed Revit (similar to how Dynamo and eTrtansmit are automatically installed when I installed Revit), I would assume that updates/hotfixes/security updates for it would also be packaged in a REVIT update/hotfix/security update.

Is this not the case?

Or is this just an isolated security update, so people who may not have stayed up to date with their Revit Updates can still maintain access tot he cloud?

Do you use Cloud Services or Cloud Storage?  If so, TLS protocol is changing June 15th. If not, don't worry about it.

Great, @Anonymous.  Now keep your eye on the calendar.  June 15, 2019 could be Y2K Redux -- this one impacting Autodesk subscribers around the world.  Stock up on bread, milk and toilet paper just in case.

See you on the other side.  Good luck.

Does it really matter why it is separate? The important question is what does it do?

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Hello,

From: https://www.autodesk.com/tls-revit-updates-2019

Personal Accelerator for Revit is an application which is critical for the performance of the Revit Cloud Worksharing and Cloud Models for Revit functionality and serves all versions of Revit (2015-2020) on a single workstation.

I hope this helps,
