I'm not entirely sure what you trying to do.  If you have a floor plan and you would like to see how the furniture and fittings are arranged, you could use fill regions to represent these and move them around.  Swap these with families when you have a better idea.  Or just start with the relevant families and move them around.

If you want to start arranging plan spaces, I would suggest an area plan.

Thank you for your response and suggestions

But what I am trying to findnout is if you are given an empty box and you have to arrange space planning for that box. What would be the easiest and most convenient way of doing that?

Do you create mass with an area and place them in an empty box??

It does depend on what the project is.  If it were a house I would suggest creating walls and rooms and arrange these until you get what you want.  If it is a larger project then I would suggest creating an area plan and arrange the areas into the relevant spaces.  I would not suggest using massing for this.

I would use massing to conceptualise the 3d view of the building at an earlier stage if required for a mode complex 3d building.

Thank you.

If the presentation has to be in 3 dimensional view, would massing with specific area be a good starting point?

Do you have any good resource of some sort such as video explanation that I can learn from?

Thank you again for your help!

It depends on what type of building you are working on - are there complex volumes with different heights and sections?  Create a conceptual mass as a starting point.  Less complex view where the roof and volumes are not that relevant?  Create some walls and rooms and show them with a section box in a 3d view.

There are many Youtube videos on creating a conceptual model - here is a link to one:
