Pattern based family on cut mass

Hi,

 

I am trying to create a pattern based family and then apply it onto a voided mass for our curtain wall. I have successfully cut my mass but when I apply panels from pattern-based family the curtain wall works cranky. See image below.

 

Im not sure if this is the best way of dealing with irregular shaped curtain wall panels. 

 

I used the pattern-based family because the panel it self will later then be much more developed with shadowbox, backside bracing truss. Could anyone help me if there's another way to do this?

Pattern base curtain panels are prone to failure when the cells shape and size are too extreme (like along the edges or at the corners).  I have found using adaptive generic family and repeat it usually yield better results.

 

Feel free to share the file so someone can take a look at it.

Yeah I have tried to use adaptive panels. but the problem is that the massing is not a straight line extrusion. Its a arch and extruded so they arent on one plane. I have attached the files hope it could help a little.

Adaptive Generic Family works well on freeform non-planar surface, hence the name Adaptive.  Anyhow, I will take a look at your files.

I have looked at you model and I would use a combination of Curtain Panel pattern based and Generic Adaptive family.  Apply the pattern based model to get the  majority of the surface filled.  Then go through the edge and replace defective panels with adaptive families.

 

The screencast below shows an example of what I am talking about.  Perhaps some mass gurus such as @Alfredo_Medina can provide better insight.
