Parts in different phases?

Hi fellas!

I wonder if it's possible to have walls where parts are in different phases?
Example: An existing wall where just the outmost layer is being changed?

Or do you have to draw this as separate walls next to each other?

Not sure exactly what you are after, but there is some ability to manipulate the phases of parts from the parent object. In this example I changed the phase demolished of one layer of the wall. You have to un-check the "Phase by Original" parameter of the part you want to alter.

Totally sweet, @loboarch - learned something new today. 

A question - wall finish on one side of an existing wall displays correctly as demolished in demo plans.

In new construction plans - I don't see the parts of the existing wall - even the wall finish which I have not touched.

So how to display the demolished finish as new construction? Slap a thin wall on top of the existing wall is a not-so-elegant possibility that comes to mind......

Yes that is where this breaks down a little. You would need to place a thin wall over the top of the existing wall. This kind of workflow is probably best suited for small areas of a project, not in huge amounts on a project.  That might get overwhelming quickly.

Just so that I understand correctly, it's possible to change phases of parts but when you want them to show correctly in plans we get into problems?
Would be neat to have half of the wall as "current construction" and the other half as "new construction"

- You have to set the Views to Show Parts, not Show Originals in order to see Parts.

- A part can only under one Phase.  You cannot assign Parts to be Existing to be Demolished in one View and New Construction in another.  You have to physically create new elements under New Construction to replaced the demolished Parts, or use graphic overrides to change the demolished Parts to appear as New.

This is a work around I've just discovered, but it appears to give the ability to phase demolished and new parts using the same wall, rather than adding separate walls ontop

1. Create a wall with three layers in the existing phase. Layer 1 will be untouched and represents the retained wall. Layer 2 will be demolished in the proposed phase. Layer 3 will be created in the proposed phase.
2. Create Parts
3. Go to a plan view and enable shape handles for both Layers 2 and 3.
4. Drag the shape handles to reposition layer 3 so it touches the surface of the retained layer 1.
5.  Untick 'phase demolished by original' for layer 2 and change to demolished in the proposed phase
6.  Untick 'phase created by original' for layer 3 and change to created in the proposed phase

So with the view set to 'show parts' the wall can display the outer layers shown as demolished and then reclad (see attached). Interested to see if this technique causes problems elsewhere!

"rather than adding separate walls ontop"... why wouldn't you? Above seems like a forced workaround for a non-existing issue tbh...

But perhaps I didn't get the point, who knows...
