Parts Division lines move when editing an element

Hi,
see video
Create a wall wich has an edited profile, and divide it into parts.
Change the wall profile with the grip handles and the part division lines move position accordingly.
Edit the wall profile and change the sketch lines, part division lines don't move.
place a wall opening in the wall and change the with of the opening, the wall divisions do't change.

I would like that part divisions don't change, whatever the way of editing is.
We would like to use parts as a workflow for creating precast panels but this becomes almost useless if the position of parts division lines can chage depending the way a user edits an element.

How are you dealing with this?

Best regards

Hi!

It's common issue. And even more, you can lose your dimensions by editing parts or wall profile..
I would recommend you to making parts by using intersecting references. It's a little bit tricky but gives you stability, and you can edit parts easier. I always use this way.

I prefer reference planes, but you can use grids and levels too.

Hi Dmitriy Semko,

Gonna try the reference planes.

It would be nice if we just could select the ref planesin the drawing insead of naming them first and then selecting them in a list.

Thanks

Nic

Hi, Nic!

Well, thanks to Konrad K Sobon author of the 'archi-lab.net' package available on Dynamo, this task now only takes a few seconds. This package contains a node called NameRefPlaneBasedOnCurveDirection.
I plan to remake this node to work a little bit differently, but even without it this node is already a huge step forward.

Kind regards,
Dmitriy.
