Parking Spot family does not adapt to double inclined floor

Hi forum,

 

I got a project where we scanned an underground car park and made a Revit model out of it.

The modeler wants to add the Parking spots in the Revit model as well but i got trouble with the parking spot family from the autodesk library

 

I am aware that i need to change it but i wanted to ask if it is even possible to make the family adept to a double ( or multiple) inclined floor.

 

I made the family "face based" which makes it adapt to either part of the inclined floor so there is always some part of the family "flying in the air"

 

Does anybody have suggestions?

As long as the floor plan view looks fine, I wouldn't do anything about this. I would keep the family simple, as it is.

hi @pipapongo0909,

 

We have had a similar issue with one of our designs.

We started by just not attaching the spots to the slopes, and it worked fine... Until we decided to integrate 3D elements (concrete wheels "blockers").

Then it had to adapt to the slope.

 

Thing is, once it is face-based, it doesn't cut the view at a right angle anymore, and detail lines do not show anymore.

So we decided in the End that we would keep it face-based, but with model lines for the inprint that float high enough not to be hidden by the floor, and assign them a new subcategory so that we can hide them in Elevation / 3D via VG settings... 

 

The design being a car park, we had to go through the trouble...

 

A lot of trouble that I would go through again only if really necessary...

 

So if you think it is worth it I can explain my methode in more details,

This would be hugely annoying to do for every spot in a large garage...

It's simply multiple model lines made in segments after choosing each plane in turn as the workplane.
