Hi, I am still relatively new to Revit, and have been brainwashing myself with tutorials for the past month. I am aware that the family edior is regarded as the foundation of parametric modelling in Revit, and it is possible to construct quite complex relationships between objects, nested families, lines, etc. within the family editor.
My question is, is it possible to assign such relationships between elements, outside of the family editor, aka, in a project. I am aware of the basic constraints like allignment constrain (lock), the equality (contrain), the array tool. Are there any others?
I ask this, because as far as I am aware (I may be wrong), other software packages such as Tekla offer this option, and allow people to create parametric relations between objects, in the project itself, by for example by setting the thickness of "object 1" (stiffening plate), so it is the same as the width of "object 2" (flange thickness of adjacent joist). I imagine this might go further, and allow more complex relationships to be built, such as the number of columns along the length of a steel hall, to be directly related to the length of the steel hall (which would be the distance between grid lines in Revit). I am well aware that something like this can be done in Revit with nested families in the family editor. Can anything like it be done in the project??? It will affect how I plan my work.
