Painting wall shared by multiple rooms different colors

First I must apologize if this has been answered. I have driven myself a bit crazy searching ...

I have walls that span the length and height of the house model that I'd like to paint different colors depending on the room. Naturally when I paint the wall it stretches that color throughout every room that wall is in, living room, bedroom, basement, and second floor, etc.

I'm guessing this is probably very simple and yet I'm lost. Any help is much appreciated!!!

A splitting line must be from one edge to another edge of the surface. So in your case, they must start from the base of the wall to the top of the wall. If your ceiling is below the top of the wall, you can have one horizontal splitting line at the ceiling, and the vertical splitting lines from the wall base line to the horizontal splitting line.

The split can be made :

either:

  • by a single closed loop

or (as ToanDN says)

  • by one or more open loops (lines) whose ends lie on the boundary of the face

Thank you very much! I was missing that the splitting line had to run the
full span of the wall from the basement to the 3rd floor, not just the
floor I was dealing with.
