Our company is starting to migrate over to Revit for fire sprinkler systems design. As such, I am creating a border sheet for us to use. I am trying to understand the text parameters which has been good so far, but I have a few questions. Specifically, with the sprinkler head legend, how do I set up a text label that would allow every one of these boxes to have unique editable text? As best I can tell, it seems like I have to make 150 unique text labels with 150 text parameters otherwise changing one instance changes them all. Is there an easier way? It would be nice to have this text built into the border sheet, instead of doing regular text in the project later on. Any ideas? Thanks. (I have attached an example of a completed legend from AutoCAD in the second photo.)

Hi why don't you use dynamo..

No need for individual labels. Use Instance Parameters instead of Type Parameters.

I would also have a look att Keyschedules, which in 2022 also will support shared parameters. KS will let you fill in multiple parameters automatically and shared parameters will give you a textfile which can be shared between multiple projects within the company.

Kimberly Fuhrman yes, but I would need one new instance parameter for each box correct? That’s like 150 instance parameters just for this legend.

Michael Braaten No, one Instance text parameter can be filled with different values. As someone mentioned above, it could be automated using Dynamo.

ok I’ll have to do more research then. I did an instance label for each column but when I changed one, it changed the whole column. And that was instance text in that case. I’ll have to watch a YouTube video on Dynamo.
