open view in same tab

Hi, is there a UI setting not to open views in a new tab all the time? I would very much just want to switch views in my UI when clicking project browser and not have every view opening a new tab all the time and/or without having to close views that is. Been looking a while for settings, but I don't think it's possible, but maybe someone knows.

I'm not sure that there is! However that would be an awesome toggle to have access to depending on your work flow.

Well You can set a shortcut for Close Inactive Views..

That would be a workaround..

Thanks that's a reasonable solution I guess, marked it as solution. However I would still appreciate the UI functionality, for the idea forums. If you count lost time for all Revit users closing windows I'm guessing it adds up... 🙂

True, i am sure there must be a way to disable the tab feature and let Revit refresh the same window with a new view instead. The tab feature is new since 2018, it was a requested feature from 2017.

Maybe you can add this to the wish list and garner votes for it to be implemented.
