Open Source Revit to IFC Exporter

Hi forum,

I have been working with Revit & IFC since the version Revit 2016. Quite a lot has changed since then. In 2016 the open source ifcexporter for Revit had to be downloaded and installed separately.

I did this from this site: https://sourceforge.net/projects/ifcexporter/?source=navbar

if i click on the "Download" Button the file will be named: "IFC for Revit 2018 v18.2.0.msi"

Does this mean it is the Version 18?

In a video from Autodesk University (AU) they explained that the Backend gets updated quite a lot so they recommended to update it every month.

I think it was this course : AB2988: IFC with Revit for Dummies

Since Revit 2017 it has been included so my question is: do i still have to do this?

If yes, how do i see what version i have currently installed

what version comes with Revit 2018 and which one with the update to 2.0 ( build number : "20170927_1515(x64)")

here it does not specify what version it is

Besides my question, i can recommend this lecture from AU : LO-AEC17:How to Do Revit to IFC Properly it's the current status.

thanks a lot in advance

have a nice day

Hello,

Im using Revit 2017.2 and in this version the IFC Exporter is included (IFC 2x2, 2x3, 4 .....).

One question back: Do you know how to tesselate / triangulate Objekts in Revit or in exporting-process to IFC4?

Follow that Link for my question: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/ifc4-export-tesselate-triangulate-everything...

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

thanks for your reply.

My question actually was how i see the version of the IFC EXPORTER that i have installed, so what version i am currently using, not which IFC Version i can export to.

Concerning your question:

I have no experience exporting to IFC 4 since i never used it on a project.

Actually i thought Revit hasn't got the IFC4 certification yet, but i might be missinformed

If it has no certification i would be very cautious.

you might find an answer here or ask your question here

Please let the forum know if you find a solution.

thanks
