Does anyone know why some families have an Offset instance parameter and others do not? All the casework I have used has this parameter. Some specialty equipment has it and others do not. For example, I have a fridge and a range. The former has an Offset instance parameter while the latter does not. Is there logic to this property's presence or absence?

Possibly the Family was re-categorized to Specialty Equipment.

...another driver might be "Work-Plane Based":

The former is likely. Neither of these families have the Work-Plane based box checked. Furthermore, checking Work-Plane based makes an entirely different set of options, and the ones which show up are not the property I am looking for.

My clients are developers and the building is a cheap apartment complex. Of course it doesn't. It barely turns on. 🙄

Is the Range a Hosted Family (e.g. Floor Hosted)?

Old pre-2009 families have this issue where you don't have offset. I've encounter this from time to time. To fix this issue, I usually have the family that don't have offset and then insert it into the new blank family. That way you get the offset value.
