Not Able to Pan in 3D View - Revit 2019

One of our users has lost the ability to middle mouse button pan in perspective 3D views. They can use it in ortho 3D views, but not perspective. Any ideas out there?

Pressing "Go Home" usually works when this happens to me.

If the view span is great the pan is actually working, just very slowly.  It is faster to drag the window frame or zoom in then zoom back out.

The view span is not particularly broad, and the panning work just fine in ortho mode, but not at all in perspective mode. Any ideas?

Right...it is the perspective mode.  So if I was looking at a full site model it would pan terribly slow, it a room it works just fine.

It has been brought up before and the programmers are already looking into the reason why it is happening.

If you look at a building from a great distance and start walking side way, the view does not change much.  Same with the perspective mode in Revit.

The problem appears to be restricted to one model only, and can be recreated by different users. I do this in other models and they pan just fine. Always from an exterior view, not interior. Models are of similar size and complexity. The "problem" has topo model linked in, the non-problem model does not. Any ideas?

Change the 'Center' (pivot point) in the Steering Wheel? (wild guess)

CAD is Geolocated and/or there are CAD elements more than 10 miles away from the Internal Origin of the Project.

This problem persists and needs to be corrected. Simple reset of extents related to a selected object like other 3D modeling programs would probably solve it. Geolocation should not factor into this and if it does, it should be removed from this portion of the UI as it serves no purpose. Please advise if future releases or hot fixes will repair this bug. Thanks.

Bug? How did we get there? The OP stated that this was only happening in one model. What am I missing?

The fact that it occurs at all and on any basis dependent on the geometry is categorically a glitch. Just calling a spade a “spade.”

A little to late, but maybe someone else has are having same problem in 2023.

Go to any onter view, close and delete existing 3D-views and create new views.
I have no idea why this is happening, but creating new views after deleting all the old ones (in 3D) seems to do the trick 🙂

thanks very much 👍, that trick worked well 👌, although I didn't figure out the cause of this problem !!!!

In Revit 2022 LT, I faced the same problem, the model was fine panning in Orthographic but was immovable as a rock in Perspective, In my Orthographic mode I hit Home and changed the scale appropriately to a readable medium and then switched back to perspective, then it was easy to pan, it was a promising fix as I did it on every model which I faced this issue and quit and worked all the time. I hope it helps!

This is an excellent solution. I've been using Revit full-time since 2008 and i didn't know this.
