I'm pretty new to Revit (using 2026.2) so have been using both a CADCIM Tech book (Exploring AutoDesk Revit 2026 for Architecture) and YouTube videos when I run into problems. This problem with dimensions has me stumped after about 3 hours reading in the book and lots of googling.
All I want to do add permanent dimensions to a 1st floor plan I've drawn. Seems like this should be pretty simple like it is in AutoCAD. I found a nice video about this that has more or less the same description of the process as the CADCIM book.
Here is a screen cap of what the YouTube video shows after clicking on Annotate:Aligned Dimensions. Note that the here the Revit version is 2025.2. I have circled the Options Bar that includes the snap point for the cursor and here Wall faces is chosen from the pulldown menu.
When I click on Annotate:Aligned Dimensions, below is a screen cap of what I see. I circled the same area in my screen cap below. There is no Options Bar. The dimensions when I add them to my drawing are defaulted to centerlines and I need Wall faces. Blue dot dragging doesn't work because of the default to centerlines. I tried Linear rather than Aligned dimensions and still no Options Bar.
Is there a setting or a property somewhere that I need to set to get the Options Bar to appear or is there another way of setting the snap to wall faces?
