NEW TO REVIT - REVIT FAMILY DOESN'T LET ME SELECT BUILDING ELEMENTS

Hi everyone, I'm new to REVIT so I apologize for my ignorance. I am unable to click on the building elements. 1) they seem to be greyed out and are unable to be selected; 2) anytime I try to select a wall or anything for that matter, it clicks on the revit link; 3) this problem seems to have carried over to my other files. What could be the issue? I may have messed with the settings and didn't realize. Any advice would help. All this started from me linking a revit file. For reference, I attached two files. 1 = showing the grey walls I'm unable to select (same for entire building); 2= shows you how the revit link is selected when I click anywhere on the floor plan. Thank you in advance for any support.

hi, you have linked these elements in so they are not going to act like editable models they are the same as XREFS in CAD and are references only.

if you want to delve further into the link you can hover over a wall for instance and use the tab key and it will cycle through the possible selection available then click to select.

You Alain need to check you Selection Tools - Below the Modify Tab there is a drop down arrow and this sets you selecting/click/pick options.

Thank you very much for your reply. It seems like the tab advise helps temporarily, but so far, I'm having to keep pressing tab. You mention to reference the select drop down under modify. I do but only see "select." From here, all 5 items are check marked (select links, underlay elements, pinned elements, elements by face, drag elements on selection). Attached for your reference but I'm pretty sure you already know what I was talking about.
