New color scheme for new area scheme

Anonymous
Not applicable

I created two new area schemes aside from the preloaded one (Rentable and Gross area Schemes) called ZFA and EGRESS, so I have a total of 4 schemes now. I am trying to have my areas to be color coded by the area name, but when I go to color scheme table and select my new ZFA scheme in the drop down menu, the scheme is completely empty and the worse is, the "Add" icon is grayed out...EVERYTHING is grayed out except the CANCEL button at the bottom of the window (Same with teh new EGRESS area scheme). I tried duplicating a category from the rentable area scheme, but to no avail (I can't see the color coding) even though it says it is being USED, but of course, I dont have a rentable plan, but an ZFA plan.

Any idea in regards what I am missing here?

Thanks

That's strange...

I've tried to recreate that here but can't.  Screencast linked below shows my process for creating a new area scheme and then looking at the Colour scheme for it - with a default file it works exactly as expected...

How did you create your new area schemes and do the default ones work as expected?

Hi;

Try to Transfer Project Standards (Color scheme) from new architecture template into your project file..

Best,

Thank you so much. I did not create those new schemes, so as soon as I get in touch with the person that did them, I will try to find out what happened there. I did make a test scheme and just like your screencast shows, it works perfectly. Thanks!

Hello,

I'm having the same problem jdelarosa described here.

I can't make a Color Scheme for certain Area Scheme.

I wouldn't like to create a new Area Scheme and draw those areas again.

If there is a way to "repair" the once created Area Scheme, I would be delighted.

Regards,

Jarkko

I just ran into a similar problem. It happened when I copied a schedule for an area scheme from one revit file to another file. I was doing this so that I would not have to re-create all the fields, filters, sorting, and formatting information on the schedule. When you copy the schedule the related area scheme comes with it. But, for some reason you cannot assign a color scheme to that area scheme after that. Any help would be appreiciated.

I am using Revit 2015 update release 11

Sorry ennujozlagam - I am not sure what your post is trying to say. The problem is that when I go to the Edit Color FIll and set the category to my new area scheme I see a dialog box with everything greyed out and no options available.

Did anyone ever figure this out? I am having the same issue. Would be great if color schemes function allowed you to create color schemes.

From what I have been able to obtain, it is due to the transfer standards. If you copy a legend from one project to another and the new project doesn't have the exact color scheme, you have to transfer the color scheme from the previous project. See comment from Abdulkareem above for image

I had this issue. I created a new project. Created a new scheme with the same name as the one in my original project that (I could not create a color scheme for). Verified new color scheme options existed for replica area scheme in new project. Transferred project standard color schemes from new to old and overwrote. Didn't have to recreate area plans.
