Nested families not showing in selection tree when project is exported to nwc

Hello all, I am new to revit and self taught so I hope there is just a setting that I am missing. I am trying to export a project in a way so that nested families will show in the selection tree.  the first image I have attached is the entire project export where it only shows the family and material types rather than the nested families within it.  The second shows the nwc of just one of the families and the selection tree shows all the various family names.  Is there a way I can get the full project nwc to show the nested families like in the second image?  If not is the solution to export the individual families and append them in to one nwd?

I'm not sure about exporting to NWC, but for nested families to show within a Revit project file, they need to be shared families within the main family model. Go into the nested family, open the Family Categories and Parameters menu, check Shared, and reload it into the family, and reload the family into the project.
