nested families create filter where one object has project line filter?

Hello 

So i have created a pedestal and gas tap in two different families then nested them into one so I dont have to constantly measure the distance between them. 

It is a furniture company i work for and we use projection line colours for certain items in our floor plan views for instance green is for pedestals.

Is there a way to make my pedestal green but keep the gas tap regular black projection line as a filter. so in future it is ready to go preset. when i do it it over runs the whole family so its all green which is not what i want. I have tried using the linework tool but that is just in that instance that it is over run not through out the project.

If so how? This has been bugging me for a while.

Change the nested families to different categories or subcategories so that you caan give them different line colors in project via object styles or VG.

I changed them to different categories one furniture and the other generic and still when the family is brought in it seems to be overriding completely both via VG and object styles.

Make the nested families "Shared".
