Hey everyone,
Just wanted to share my experience using Revit 2025 on macOS — specifically on a MacBook Pro M4 Pro with 24 GB of RAM, running Windows via Parallels Desktop.
I’m an architect and have been a Windows user for over 15 years. These days, I use Revit only occasionally in my company. Of course, if I were working with Revit daily and on large-scale projects, I’d probably prefer to have a dedicated Windows laptop just for that.
But I wanted to switch to macOS to explore the system, especially since I already use an iPhone and enjoy the Apple ecosystem. My biggest concern was Revit compatibility — but I’ve been pleasantly surprised.
I installed Parallels and then Revit, and using the Coherence mode (where Windows apps blend into the macOS interface), Revit feels almost like a native Mac app. Performance has been solid for my use case.
Now, here’s my question/reflection:
If Revit runs this well on a virtual machine with Apple Silicon, why isn’t there any plan to bring it natively to macOS? Tools like Rosetta 2 or Apple’s native APIs could potentially eliminate the need for Parallels, free up a lot of disk space, and make the integration even smoother.
I understand Autodesk might not see macOS as a priority, and that the Windows user base is much larger — but it’s worth mentioning that several of Revit’s competitors have already launched native macOS versions.
Just wanted to share my thoughts and open the conversation.
Anyone else here using Revit through Parallels? Would love to hear your experience!
Cheers!
