move end of elevation line in section only

I thought I had this figured out but now I'm lost.

I want to move the end of an elevation line in the section only. I click on it and uncheck the padlock button and move the end. But it does this for the entire project and not just for the view. Is there a way to do this for the view only so the elevation lines do not cut through the entire section?

You are stretching the 3D extent (a small circle) of the Level so it affects the entire project.  You need to click on the 3D symbol so that it changed to 2D before stretching it (a small dot).  Unlocking the padlock has nothing to do with what you are trying to do.
